DURHAM, Louiza Myers

LOUIZA J. DURHAM, wife of Wm. Durham, died at her home in Montezuma Sunday after an illness of a year’s duration. She was 60 years old and had a wide circle of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Durham will be remembered as former Harveysburg residents, having recently moved to Montezuma.

LOUISA JANE MYERS was born April 9, 1842, died March 1 1908. Her maiden name was Louisa Jane Myers. Her father’s name was Solom and her mother’s name Elizabeth Myers.

She was married to William Durham, December 6 1860. To them were born eight children, six girls and two boys—Lavina Jane, Martha Evelyn, Miriam, Ida, Netta, Emma Etta, Leslie and Johnson who died when he was four years old. The six daughters are all married and live in Indiana. There are twenty four grandchildren two of which she raised, Carrie and Golda Smith and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Durham united with the Christian church when she was about fifteen years old. She was sick about four years—confined to her home since August. She was a patient sufferer, never complaining. She loved her home but expressed a willingness to depart and be with her Saviour. Christ leads me through no darker rooms, Than he went through before, He that enters God’s Kingdom comes must enter by this door.

Funeral was held at the Christian church in Montezuma Tuesday March 3rd at 10 a.m., Rev. S. W. Patterson of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment at Oakland Cemetery.

The husband and children desire to return their sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted them in taking care of their dear wife and mother during her long sickness and death and may Gods blessings rest on all of them is there fervent prayers.
